Biography

If there is one thing you can’t blame Maarten Elen and Jonas Kiesekoms for it’s a lack of imagination. At only 24, the duo already has a decade of creative experimenting behind them, from making politically incorrect rock music to writing absurd theatrical plays. However, it was only last year that their musical passion culminated in the blend of vintage techno and contemporary electronic that is Mumbai Science.

In early 2010, the duo signed with the notorious label Lektroluv Records, releasing three original EP’s (Woof EP, Ancova EP, Gold EP) and remixes. Club hits like ‘Ancova’ and ‘Gold’ got picked up rapidly by artists around the globe (from 2 many dj’s, Crookers, Erol Alkan, Boys Noize, Tiga and beyond), putting Mumbai Science on the worlds EDM radar.

So, what’s next for Mumbai Science? The duo just finished remixes for Mixhell (Boys Noize Records), Goose and Andy George & Jaymo (BBC radio 1) and are in the middle of some very interesting collaborations. Apart from their work in the studio, they do a monthly mix on the well-known Belgian radio station ‘Studio Brussels’, proving to be versatile DJ’s as well. When asking them what 2011 will bring, they answer in an ancient Indian proverb saying: “If music be the food of love, play on!” … Or was that Shakespeare?
