Biography

Louie got the DJ bug when a local youth club needed to put on a charity event so came up with the idea of 2 stereo units side by side to play music, but he was the only one playing. From 1971 he played various mobile discos but apart from the valuable training didnt like the pop music element.

In 1973 Louie was offered a residency at a Dunstable Club/Pub, fully kitted out, so the mobile gear got dumped! At "Greyhound" he played to a packed crowd every Sunday with a 100% soul set for 2 years when he came to the attention of The California Ballroom who were looking for a DJ to play in their smaller room "The Devils Den". This venue became one of the iconic soul venues in the south during the mid to late 70's and soon Louie was introducing some of the biggest names from America Issac Hayes, Brass Construction, Fatback, Kool & The Gang, Roy Ayres, Grover Washington, Harold Melvin, Bobby Womack, The Crown Heights Affair and many more.

By the time "The Cali" closed down Louie was already on the guest DJ circuit playing out in Cambridge, Peterborough, Stevenage, Hitchin, Luton, Bedford and surrounding areas. In 1977 he was invited to take part as a monthly guest on The Robbie Vincent Show on BBC Radio London and this resulted in meeting other DJ's like Jeff Young, Chris Brown, Froggy, Sean French, Chris Hill, Greg Edwards and many more. The clubbing dates and events rolled in including The Royalty, The Gold Mine, Caister Weekenders, AllDayers and The Knebworth Soul Festival.

The move to independent local radio came in 1983 after he contributed in commercial production for Chiltern Radio and later presenting his Saturday Night Soul Show for 10 years. These shows were also networked to other stations including, Northants Radio, Horizon (Milton Keynes), Galaxy (Bristol), Severn Sound (Gloucester) and Louie launched "The Breakfast Show" on Choice FM Birmingham in 1995. Later broadcasts came via Oasis/Mercury FM (St. Albans) and since last year at MKFM before joining Delite Radio, Sundays 10am – Mid day
