Biography

Lockstone plays mostly Trance of all styles these days but still has a love for anything from Minimal Techno to Gabba. Dropping beats since 1995 he learnt his trade mixing on vinyl on my much loved set of 1210's

"Music is my passion and inspiration and my one true love."

It's the early 1990s and Pirate Radio was where it all began for me playing Tracks from Production House, Moving Shadow and Suburban Base as well as many more on Hertford Pirate Radio. Trying to dodge the DTI and keep the transmitters running and broadcasting our signal. Playing many house parties for friends and others who heard what we were doing. Those days there were so few DJ's and Producers playing Underground Dance music and it was so much fun.

When the first Trance Wave really hit I was taken over by the uplifting vibe of the early sounds. Music touted as 'Classics' now will always have so many good memories for me but then other genres like Drum and Bass and then Techno drew me into their orbits as well. Electronica in all of its guises has been a huge part of my listening experience and life for more time than I can remember and eventually I had my first releases (Hardcore Acid Techno) in the late 90's and Early 2000's writing on Amiga 1200's with Octamed 8 under the names Alien Race and Pariah. Our first release was actually played by John Peel on his Peel sessions on Radio 1. This led to playing more parties and underground events including a few early outdoor 'raves' and getting heavily into the raving culture of clubs like Lost, VFM and the amazing Knowledge in Victoria’s SW1 club London. Then came the CJB and the commercialisation of the Clubbing movement. People starting to move events into established clubs and promoters making large amounts of money and the creation of the ‘Superstar DJ’ really turned me off of the scene and I stepped away from it all for a few years but always kept my ears tuned into the music.

In 2010 I started to get interested again after a friend turned me onto Mixcloud and Soundcloud and the way DJ’s and Producers could create their own content it re-ignited my love for dance music once again. I’ve always been a DJ and not really a producer but seeing how easy it was to get your hands on the software and hardware to create and release your own music was something I could not resist and so I climbed back aboard the music train once more.

I started up the Glorious Visions Trance Mix in 2011 and had it just as a podcast first then it was picked up by 1Mix Radio and then onto the now sadly missed Trance.FM. It continues today and is at 200+ episodes.

Finally, started to produce tracks again. Not to raise my profile or to get bookings but to contribute and give something back to the music that has been my best friend for over 20 years. I hope this has given you a flavour of who I am........ I’m not someone who craves attention or the limelight. My shyness is often mistaken for arrogance but this could not be further from the truth. I’m just not an outgoing or confident person but seeing how strong the scene is and how much amazing music there is across all of the genres is something that I think shows how much music means to us all! If I can create mixes and tracks that give even a moments pleasure to others then that is enough for me and anything that comes from that is gravy (as they say).
