Biography

Jon is one of the original pioneers of UK techno music. A career spanning over 25 years at the cutting edge of the genre, beginning with his groundbreaking Microdot acid and techno events in Leeds in 1991, which led to his weekly Dream FM Radio show in 1992. These early projects established Nuccle to be one of the principal champions of techno music in the North of England in the early 90s.

His uncompromising DJ style quickly became the stuff of legend, leading to performances in clubs and on radio across the globe (including an hour long live mix for BBC Radio One in 2003) and eventually to a monthly residency at the legendary Orbit club in Leeds in the late nineties and early noughties.

Nuccle’s been producing quality techno since 1993, originally as D-Kontrol (with long-time collaborator Mike Humphries) through Frank De Wulf’s 2 Thumbs imprint, followed by releases under several monikers (Cold Dust, Player, D.O.M., Red Tide, Pitch Invasion, Drone, Area 51 and more) on various labels including Communique, SUF, Bush, Cluster, Kickin’ and Primate before starting his own labels Red Seal and Player (both favourites of Dave Clarke, Claude Young, Thomas Krome, Adam Beyer and Laurent Garnier, among many other top names).

His live techno sets, both as Cold Dust (with Mike Humphries) and as Player, are generally regarded as amongst the best in the business and have rocked crowds consistently for over 20 years on the biggest stages. It was these incredible live performances that led to Jon & Mike becoming monthly residents at the legendary Orbit After Dark in Morley. An event that, at the time, was universally recognised (and quoted as being) the best techno night in the world.

As the last remaining member of the Infamous Player collective, Jon’s latest productions are every bit as rugged, diverse and imposing as has come to be expected from him.

We look forward to hearing these brutal beats at 909//303 on Saturday 30th November!
