DENIO are a four-piece indie rock band from Liverpool consisting of vocalist Mike Davis, drummer Bill Caple, lead guitarist Andres Hernandez and keyboard player Daniel Hernandez. Formed in November 2016 after months of writing and playing music together simply as a group of good friends, the band decided to officially record and release what would be their debut single ‘Models’. Premiering the release at The Shipping Forecast to a filled room the band showed ‘that they possess a sonic intuition to craft songs that create an electrifying atmosphere’ (RedEyedSkeleton).
The bands sound has been compared to early Talking Heads, Foals and Arcade Fire, with their latest single Cait described as 'a clanging post-punk study in a sterilised test tube where Foals are shaken up with The Cure's DNA' (Getintothis). Their use of layered guitar and Wurlitzer hooks with four to the floor drum patterns and synth bass creates grooves on which Davis projects his unique melodic lyrical style.
Taking their material to Liverpool producer Robert Whiteley, the two parties combine to achieve a sound that no longer merely belongs to the backrooms of their homes. Armed with the backing of both BBC Introducing Lancashire and Merseyside, DENIO are promising some exciting things in the near future.
