Biography

Big Ups are a punk rock band from New York City formed in September 2010. The band is comprised of drummer Brendan Finn, vocalist Joe Galarraga, guitarist Amar Lal, and bassist Carlos Salguero Jr. They played their first show on the roof of Joe's apartment building because no one would book them. Since then, they've been playing all over the city- in bars, basements, kitchens, and backyards. The songs are about love, alienation, indecisiveness, comics, and high fives; they're singable, but mosh pits are common and welcome.

"A collection of astounding anthems for a new tomorrow, made by the disaffected youth of today." 8/10

NME Magazine

"A powerful and dark narrative [that] makes this record relevant on so many different levels." 7.5/10

The Line Of Best Fit

"Big Ups come across as a band in complete command of their sound, fronted by a guy on the verge of losing it." 7/10

Pitchfork

"A brutish rocker with its eyes in the gutter" 7/10

Uncut Magazine

"It's not noise for noise's sake – it's melodic. It's quiet at points, frantic at others. It's dark, it's messy, it's a dank and smelly basement." 4/5
