Biography

The first time ATOM heard drum & bass, he was nestled tightly within the dimly lit walls of London’s notorious free party scene. It was at that very moment, he became fully aware that over the next twenty years, it would become an inherent part of his identity. From rave culture to his beginnings as a pianist and guitarist, ATOM’s eclectic music taste knew no bounds and he found inspiration from a myriad of sources. In an effort to learn professional production he ended up at Point Blank, the revered music school, where he was tutored by Mike Daley, the man responsible for the M Beat and General Levy classic ‘Incredible’, and taught ATOM how to navigate the drum & bass soundscape. In turn, he was heralded as Pioneer Radio’s featured DJ and landed a licensing deal with Indaba Music, following a winning competition entry under a different moniker.

A regular at the historic Bar Rumba nights in central, ATOM was well aware of resident veteran Mampi Swift, witnessing his sets week after week. By chance, ATOM’s mastering engineer forwarded his music onto Swift, emphasising ATOM’s talent and his ambition to find a home for his work. It wasn’t just the engineer who recognised the producer’s flair.

In reality, it was ATOM’s cross-genre aptitude which caught Swift’s ears. The label head was looking for a musician, not just a drum & bass producer. ATOM sent him all of his tracks to date to showcase the variety of styles he could offer. After opening Swift up to his vast spectrum of influences in the studio, it soon became apparent he matched the profile Swift was looking for. Not long after, he was signed exclusively to the Charge Recordings imprint. He has since appeared on DJ Hypes Kiss FM show and has a number of releases coming soon
