Lineup and details for The Snake Davis Band (Special line Up) on Saturday 4th July 2009
It's over a year ago since leading soul, funk, jazz saxophonist, Mr Snake Davis last played at Huntingdon Hall. It was a rather special occasion as he invited local saxophonist Deborah Saunders up onto stage to play alongside him. It was a fabulous evening and despite a busy touring schedule, most recently with the soul singer and Strictly Come Dancing Star from M People, Ms Heather Small, Snake is back at The Theatre on Saturday 4th July.
Bob Jones (from Blues Britain Magazine) was present at the last performance, said "Snake Davis is one of my favourite hornsters, moving effortlessly across jazz and blues genres. He knows how to swing a melody which, as Marty Grosz said, Louis Armstrong told him was the test of a good Jazzman."
So how could he match the success of the last show? Well this show will have a different, but rather special line up. Snake's keyboard player is away for a couple of weeks so rather than bring in a replacement for the show, he decided to bring in Mark Creswell (Burden of Paradise, Helen Watson, The Suspicions & Tanita Tikaram) on acoustic guitar. Mark is held in very high esteem for his playing and with Snake's natural ability to know a good thing when he hears it, this is bound to be extra special.
Snake is regarded as one of the best saxophonists in the music business today. His connections in the music world are phenomenal, having played on hundreds of tracks for stars including legends such as Sir Paul McCartney, Tina Turner and James Brown, heart throbs Kylie and Robbie Williams to current favourites Amy Winehouse, Will Young and Calvin Harris to name only a few.
One of the reasons Snake is able to draw large audiences is his ability to evoke moods and places through his music. His manager, Sally Hare said "industry demands that we classify artists into set genres but in truth it's impossible to put Snake in one of those boxes. Listening to Snake in concert is an original experience - an evening of musical entertainment that can make you want to sing, dance and drift away. People often say they leave his concerts feeling happy, with a sense that you can go out and conquer your world. We get such lovely feedback. Snake has many loyal fans in the area and we're really pleased to be back."
