Serious security issues!!
Overall rating: 3

This was my 5th Creamfields festival and will be my last!

Everywhere i went there seemed to be fighting and the security staff were unwilling to get involved. It was left to the crowds to break up and i even got knocked to the ground by some brawlers during Jon O'callahans set. You had to have eyes in the back of your head!.

Me and my friend were followed most of Saturday night by a group of lads not wearing any wristband so had obviously broke in. They kepts asking us personal questions about how many people were in our group and where we were staying etc. When the gig ended we didnt want to walk to the car ourselves incase anything happened to us so we reported it to the police who just said we were paranoid!! I mean whats going on!! if you have a problem surely the police are there to help!!

In the end even though we were only day ticket holders we walked to the campsite with some friends that were staying for the full weekend and were surprised to find there was NO security on the gate anyone could walk into the campsite area unchallenged (including the guys with no wristbands that were still lingering around behind us!!)

Once we got in the campsite we were met by utter carnage!! We were trying to find security but so was 5 people who had been seriously beaten up when their tents were robbed. One guy was hit over the head with a crowbar and slashed with a knife when he was woken up by theives in his tent!! We waited 20 mins from a security guy reporting these incidents to the police to them getting to the campsite to help! They didnt seem to be in any rush to help even the seriously injured people!

After an hour of nagging at the police in the pouring down rain they finally agreed to walk me and my friends back to my car. Even my friends who had paid for a full wknd ticket came home with us on the Saturday after what they had seen. The group that had been following us were waiting at the exit but the police couldnt do anything as they technically hadnt done anything wrong. They were just told to leave site for not having wristbands. In the car park we must have walked past 10 cars that had windows out where they had been robbed.

And you have to laugh at the police who released a statement saying there were no serious incidents during the festival!!

This festival has MAJOR security issues! It seems to have got worse from previous years not better! Its always been rough compaired to Global Gathering but this year was beyond belief!

Id definately think twice before camping in the standard section and make sure you go in big groups if you go at all!!

SORT IT OUT CREAMFIELDS!!

My first Creamfields camping experience. Brill but take half the stuff you think you need or go with a few of you and not on your tod. My own fault, I know taking too much stuff but when your told its only a short way, 100m I think they said, from carpark to campsite that must be the shortest distance as most distance can be upto and close to a mile across the rolling hills of the Daresbury estate i think they need to let people know that. I'd probably only do it again if I had someone with me.

Tent up and knackered already it was off to the arenas. Found myself camped out in the Cream Bench arena for the most of my time both days and didnt see any trouble as I stayed from middle to back of the arena. In fact I never saw any trouble all weekend but looking at the previous review there must have been some. I had a great time and was lucky enough to not have to experience it I suppose.

So knackered from the early start and the dragging of too much stuff to my eventual campsite, I could not physically keep my eyes open by half eleven on the Saturday so decided I had best make my way back to my tent. Gutted at missing Ferry and Armin and hugely disapointed at the singalonga Guetta (why do some DJs turn the music down to hear the crowd so much?) I thought they will be back again or I will catch up with them one day. Correct decision on the whole as the Sunday was a long one.
Sunday was a struggle getting out of my tent as the rain and wind buffetted in all directions but it died down and then I was offski. Cream tent again was brilliant but I wanted to go and see a few more and as Im gonna see PVD at Nation next month I gave him a miss and had a wander.
I wanted to catch up and see some GoodGreef Showtek, Alex Kidd b2b Kutski and hopefully Lisa Lashes too but I was so knackered and the tent was on the steepest part of the site I couldnt manage a bounce at all.
I was pacing myself all day Sunday with one eye on my haulage task on the Monday.
I popped to see Tiesto and he was the best I have heard at the Main Stage as the sound/acoustics generally stink there but I didnt want to miss Leftfield so I only caught twenty mins of him on the basis that I will catchup with the guy in an indoor venue whereas it would be unlikely I get another opportunity to Leftfield as Im out when they are coming to Liverpool and I am unlikely to get to see them again being an old fart. Loved them and it was a fine end to a great couple of days music. Cos Tiesto was on the tent was only half full so thoroughly knackered laid down with my feet up at the back of the tent listening to Leftism worked on every level for me.
I have to mention Sasha. What an pleasure it was to have been treated to his presence. He is incredible. In a world where so may mix and revamp classic choons its so refreshing to listen to music and sounds you just havent heard before. Long may you reign.

Other notables outside of the supreme cream tent where the Chibuku tent with Raresh and Sven Vath. I could have easily spent the rest of the night there if I didnt have plans for Leftfield. I will catch up soon I promise.

Back in tent and slept well due to my earphones and MP3 keeping me company. I got up reasonably early and hauled most of my stuff back to the car. Challenge completed successfully.

Hope this helps anyone going to next years event. :) xxx

Absolutely awesome night/day! The day started with a walk around the Bench tent then a wonder over to Annie Mac Represents. A few drinks in the sun warming up for Major Lazer on the Main Stage who were fantastic and later a brilliant set by Calvin harris. As good as he was, we had to leave Calvin behind to make sure we got ourselves into the thick of it for Sweedish House Mafia. What a brilliant idea that turned out to be..... SHM can only be described as PHENOMINAL. All the right sounds, all the right pyros, all the right people. It was without a doubt the night of my life!!!

Creamfields 2011 will have alot to live up to, but I know I will be there to find out.

Peace.

Definatly a must do festival, take minimal stuff and go prepared to get messy and not live in any sort of luxuary, but thats what festivals are about anyway, brilliant music and a wide variety. some of the big names were so packed it ruined it a bit but some of the less well know acts were better anyway, definatly reccomed to every1
