Jim Mullen is a multi-award winning guitarist with a unique jazz style and sound, who is regarded as the high priest of the instrument by most young jazz guitarists. His quartet was in existence for six years from 1996 and is one of the most powerful ever to appear on the British jazz scene. The Quartet has recorded five albums and its members have worked with a huge array of musicians worldwide, not just in the jazz world but in just about every other style of music too.

Jim Mullen the man with the thumb is a truly original voice in contemporary jazz guitar born out, in no small part, of his 15-year association with sax man Dick Morrissey in the rarified jazz-fusion atmosphere of their now legendary band, Morrissey Mullen.

Never flashy or glib he is known not only for the tasteful eloquence of his solos, providing thoughtful and absorbing explorations of the carefully chosen material that forms the band's wide-ranging repertoire, but also for what his subtle comping gives to his bands overall sound.
