If you’re wondering why a band styling themselves as a “Lean Mean Rockin’ Machine” would choose the name of such a small, innocuous and, well, cute wee mammal, don’t worry  - it’s just their sense of humour.  There’s unlikely to be anything cutesy about their show on 4 May when Rodent Rock hits the Clun Green Man Festival.

Now in their twentieth year together, The Hamsters have played more than 3,750 gigs and have been voted the UK’s best blues-rock band by readers of Blueprint magazine.  Performing mainly their own material, they are also renowned as leading interpreters of the music of Jimi Hendrix and ZZ Top.

They’re hard working, energetic and accomplished musicians:  “Tight as a thumbscrew ... dazzling technique with all the kick of a mule wearing DM's” (Blueprint Magazine again).  They may occupy the hard ‘n’ heavy end of the blues spectrum, but their light-hearted attitude means audiences can expect to be entertained as well as having their socks rocked off.
