Pimmon (aka Paul Gough) is recognised internationally for pushing the boundaries of music and digital composition. Gough's music is a combination of pop, minimal composition, exotic drones and found sounds, which creates a dense, emotive, compelling and challenging listening experience.
Paul has recorded for numerous international labels including Fat Cat (UK), Room40 (AU), Tigerbeat6 (US) and Sirr (Portugal). He has contributed to dozens of releases and remixes both in Australia and overseas. He was one of four Australians selected to represent new Australian music at a performance at the San Francisco Museum of Contemporary Art (2002). He was also part of collaboration between Oren Ambarchi, Christian Fennesz, Peter Rehberg and Keith Rowe that recorded the recently reissued Afternoon Tea.
Paul has toured extensively. He is currently in Europe to perform at the INA-GRM Festival, Presences Electronique in Paris. He has also toured throughout the USA, Asia and New Zealand. In 2010, Paul was invited to perform at Mutek - the premier electronic music festival in North America [Montreal]. This took place at the prestigious Monument National, as a part of the A/Visions series. In 2009, he collaborated with classical musical group, Ensemble Offspring on their Kontakte project, which culminated with a performance at the Sydney Opera House.
Paul has worked in the Radio/Broadcast industry for 30 years and currently works for ABC Radio National as a producer/editor and also hosts the eclectic ambient music program, The Quiet Space heard across Australia and online.
