Lineup and Details for Ryedale Festival on Sat 6th October 2012
The Ryedale Festival is very excited to announce the creation of the Ryedale Festival Chorus, which will be making its debut performance at the York Barbican this October.
This choir is the culmination of years of planning and gathers together small and large choral groups from across the area to form the Ryedale Festival Chorus. 200 choir members have already begun rehearsing for the inaugural performance of Verdis spectacular classic the Requiem. It is anticipated that the final chorus will number over 300 enthusiastic singers from all over Yorkshire, an exciting new venture by the Ryedale Festival in support of a grand Northern tradition of music making.
Renowned conductor Simon Wright will be leading the preparations for this spectacular event. Simon is well known for his work with many of the countrys finest orchestras, including the York Barbicans resident York Guildhall Orchestra, and at the Classical Brit Awards, as well as working with global stars such as Plácido Domingo, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa, Renée Fleming, Bryn Terfel, Andrea Bocelli and Sir James Galway.
Simon will be joined by a stellar line-up of soloists for this event, including Katherine Broderick (soprano), Louise Winter (mezzo soprano), Barry Banks (tenor) and Matthew Best (bass).
