Salfords only new music festival, Sounds from the Other City celebrates its seventh birthday this year. Having presented Marina and The Diamond, the Ting Tings, Cherry Ghost, Dutch Uncles, Wu Lyf, Egyptian Hip Hop, Jesca Hoop and many more, the one day event on Chapel Street returns on May 1 for a day and night of incredible sonic exploration.
As ever the focus on quality and talent and the festival expands from nine to 13 stages this year; University of Salford 300+ capacity Peel Hall will play host to a stage curated by promoters Hey! Manchester, while audiences can take in shows at Islington Mill, St Philips Church, Rover's Return, and many more. Promoters booked to take part include Paradox who last year hosted one of Frank Sidebottoms last appearances as part of SFTOC, as well as the acclaimed new music promoters, Now Wave whose Islington Mill stage will feature rising Manchester stars, D/R/U/G/S and Star Slinger. Plus stages curated by High Voltage, MIE Music, Wot god Forgot, Trash-o-Rama, Fat Out till you Pass Out, Comfortable on a Tightrope and many many more.
Full line ups will be announced in the next few weeks.
Ticket are on sale, priced £18 at www.quaytickets.com, www.skiddle.com, and Piccadilly Record. Booking fee free at Common, Kings Arms, and Islington Mill.
