Alt-popstars Austra have just been confirmed to play Islington Mill following epic five night set at SXSW. In contrast to the name which means goddess of light, expect dark and sexual electro for the damned. Lead singer Katie Stelmanis trained as an opera singer, before losing herself to Torontos punk, scene, joining Galaxy before setting up this hotly tipped three-piece. Sonic references include The Knife, Zola Jesus, Glasser and NME slaying mercenaries, Warpaint. Check out The Beat and The Pulse mixed by Damian Taylor (Björk, The Prodigy, UNKLE), and the euphoric strains of Lose It.
Support comes from OLA, progressive folksters signed to Red Deer Club label: a tribal Wild Beasts is a flavour of what to expect. Plus more support to be confirmed.
