Lineup and details for October Beer Festival on Thursday 7th October 2010
The Continental’s 5th Beer Festival
Thursday 7th October to Saturday 9th October 2010
The Continental flings open its doors once again for another celebration of the best in real ales, cider, and bottled beers from around the world. The Continental’s 5th Beer Festival takes place over three days with over 100 beers, music, entertainment and a range of specialty foods on offer.

This festival will see the emphasis squarely on the beer, with a distinctly Germanic ‘Oktoberfest’ theme in evidence. The entire range of Oktoberfest specials, brewed specially for the famous festival, will be available along with a selection of German sausages, or “würstl”, to complement them. We will also have the return of the hog roast plus some vegetarian treats.
Many of the wide range of British cask ales on offer will display a distinctly South Eastern slant, with specials coming from the likes of London’s Meantime and Borough Market breweries, Suffolk’s St Peter’s brewery and the Saints & Sinners brewery of Kent. As ever, the festival will also feature award winning and unusual ales from Manchester’s Marble brewery, Scotland’s Brew Dog and many more. Look out for the 10% strength Paradox bitter!
The venue won Camra West Lancs Pub of the Year 2010 and is included in Camra’s Good Beer Guide for 2010. This year, the pub also instigated the Preston Cask Ale Trail, involving seven other pubs, displaying how committed it is to putting Preston on the map when it comes to real ale.
While the emphasis is more on the beer for this ‘Oktoberfest’, the Thursday night will feature a special Beer Festival edition of the venue’s ever-popular Open Mic Night.
There will slso be quality live music acts on the Friday and Saturday nights, including hot young singer-songwriter Karima Francis, acoustic minstrels Ivan Campo, Glaswegian duo Over The Wall plus more to be confirmed. Stay tuned for full details.
We will have an outside bar, an extra serving hatch inside and a second area to buy beer tokens from. So, we will be able to cope with the expected numbers of people attending.
The Continental’ 5th Beer Festival runs from 6pm on Thursday 7th October to last orders on Saturday 9th October. Entry is free.
