Lineup and details
Divinemoon Festival, Portland, August 16 17 2008.
-----
roots'n'dub, chant, movement, meditation, good food, cutting edge conscious music
-----
tickets: 1 day £15, 2 days £27, under 13's: £8 and £15. Under 6: free.
-----
"Jah / One Love" (as in dub and reggae) mixes freely with "Jai / Anandam" (as in chanting and kiirtan) right there on the alcohol free, family friendly dance floor. The tempting aromas of tasty vegetarian dishes waft in from next door. People feel relaxed and happy having had a Yoga workshop or walk earlier on. The day has been spent enjoying Sufi music and perhaps circle dancing, and now the night has come with gut-vibrating spirit-raising roots/dub with different guests adding some Shiva Chant, Sufi Wails, Tabla Rhythms, and Instrumentals.
This is Creator-pleasing, Jah-centered and people-respecting collective music. This is not music with the spirit added as an after-thought. Spirit drives the music; in fact Spirit drives the whole festival. There will be an amazing spirit at Divinemoon Festival that will take a very long time to forget. Don't miss it.
-----
Headlining:
* Alpha and Omega (dub & reggae). Joining them will be: Paul Fox (of Shades of Black), Rootsman Rak, and Jonah Dan (the most recorded bingi drummer outside of Jamaica).
* Well known group Goma, with their programme of authentic Indian devotional chants of ecstasy.
* Pinky, with his latest electro acoustic sound installation Hradesin.
* Jason Kalidas tabla sound journey
* And many more - including workshops.
-----
Divinemoon Festival is based in Easton village on the rocky island of Portland clinging to the south coast of Dorset, UK. Accommodation: various B&Bs, hostels and camping places.
