Lineup and details
A fantastic new 14+ gig night starts at The Regal this Sunday night.
Live @ The Regal features top unsigned indie acts performing on the main stage, and this Sunday will see the likes of Riot Park, 50ft Panda, The Haiku and The Franks playing a mix of old school rock and classic indie with a few surprises here and there...
The Regal is a brand new venue on the Cowley Road, with a state-of-the-art lighting rig and 60k Martin Audio PA this makes for a serious stage show, and this Sunday will be no exception. Each band will perform with a 'live lounge twist', taking on a cover track and throwing out some really new material.
The Regal and Myonit want to boast about unsigned talent in both Oxford and further afield. Sunday is just the start, over the next months new bands will continue to be given the chance to play in a unique venue and to share their music with a new audience.
Oxford's RIOT PARK use perfectly uniformed indie melodies alongside blues vocals to create a somewhat quirky effect. Taking influences that run from Ray Charles to Feist to Bloc Party the band drive these into an impressively smooth, modern sound.
With music stripped as simplistic as possible to get back to the basics and then rebuilt with the most complex layers, instrumentalists 50FT PANDA are truly unique riffers. Unable to be classified, sometimes called prog, other times stoner, however named, the noise is truly awesome.
Rock outfit THE HAIKU prepare to shower the audience with a laid back approach to the more classic rock music. Armed with just an acoustic guitar. A set of drums and some impressive vocals THE HAIKU are a surprising and hypnotic band to watch.
THE FRANKS return fresh from earning their stripes at Glastonbury. With a sound that falls somewhere between brit-pop and Interpol, the band show how they earned their place as finalists of the Q Magazine 'New Talent' competition.
