The Camerata Vocal de Música Áurea (Golden Music)
is a choir of young singers in the city of Santiago in
eastern Cuba. Led by its founding Musical Director
Delvis Sanchez Suarez, Música Áurea has gained a
reputation for high standard of its choral performances.
Its repertoire ranges from the Renaissance to the
contemporary and includes classical works by Monteverdi,
Mozart, Bach, Mendelssohn, Ravel and Rimsky-
Korsakov, works by Cuban composers such as Roberto
Valera, as well as popular Cuban boleros set to wonderful
choral harmonies.
The choir has been asked to sing at many official
national and regional events and festivals within Cuba
and in its home city. It has collaborated with the
renowned pianist Frank Fernández, and given recitals on
radio and television.
Various choral directors such as Carl Högset from
Norway, Renzo Carlini from Italy, Alan Cutts from
Ireland, Saul Saks from Denmark, and Jorge Mejia
Medina from Honduras have been hosted by and worked
with Música Áurea.
Camerata de Música Áureas 2012 tour to five English
and Scottish cities has been organised by choirs
collaborating in the Voces de Cuba project and in
Nottingham by Nottingham Clarion Choir, It is supported
by Music Fund for Cuba and the Arts Council.
