Top rock and indie names, legendary acts, and rising stars, on a large main stage or the smaller tented stage in a relaxed festival atmosphere.

The dates for the eighth Isle of Wight festival are confirmed as from Friday 12th until Sunday 14th June 2009.

The confirmed acts for 2009, include The Prodigy who headline on Friday, with Stereophonics, and Razorlight confirmed as joint Saturday headliners. Basement Jaxx, Pendulum, and The Ting Tings, are all also confirmed for Friday. The Charlatans are to curate the Sunday of this year's Big Top, and will headline it on the same day.

Still available is an adult ticket without camping priced at £120 and £60 for children (12 years and under). A campervan permit is £250 (all occupiers must also have a valid Camping ticket). Every person attending the festival must purchase a ticket. This includes babes in arms.

Tickets were priced at £140 for adult camping which includes entertainment in the campsite on Thursday night, and £70 for a child ticket (12 years and under). These have now sold out.

The festival has a large main stage in a natural amphitheatre that showcases well known rock and indie names, a legendary act or two, and rising stars, in a relaxed festival atmosphere.

Expected to make a return in 2009 is the 5,000 capacity circus style Big Top which plays host to a campers and Festival First Members only special night on the Thursday, and acts as a second stage once the festival begins.

Away from the Main Stage, the Platform One Bandstand offering unsigned acts and local bands, around 50 acts in all.

The arena is open from 2pm until midnight on the Friday, 11am until midnight on the Saturday, and 11am until 11pm on the Sunday. No bottles, cans, chairs, etc, may be taken into the arena. The Campsites are open from noon on Thursday until noon on Monday. Strawberry Fields opens on Thursday at 6pm until midnight for campers and Festival First Members.
