The 12,000 sq ft store will officially open at 9am, when the Mayor of Alnwick, Councillor Alan Symmonds, will cut the ceremonial ribbon, alongside representatives from the Alnwick Playhouse Concert Band, Wilkinsons retired chairman, Tony Wilkinson, chief executive, Stuart Mitchell and store manager, Lee Wade.
The first lucky 50 customers through the tills will each receive a Treat Yourself with Wilkos goody bag, containing a selection of products from Wilkinsons health & beauty and confectionery ranges, while town crier, John Renwick-Stevens will patrol the town centre announcing fantastic opening day offers.
A medieval magician, Nathaniel Bagshot, will also be in attendance to astound and amaze shoppers with traditional tricks, while a Hagrid lookalike will take a break from protecting famous wizard, Harry Potter, to greet customers and pose for photographs.
To raise funds for Age UK, Wilkinsons charity of the year, which provides care and support for elderly people in the community, volunteers from the organisation will host an opening day charity raffle. Shoppers will be in with a chance of winning a jam-packed hamper full of Wilkinsons DIY and decorating essentials, including rollers, paintbrushes and tools.
