UTAH SAINTS (dj set)
Back in the charts where they belong with the release of 'Something Good 08', The UTAH SAINTS first burst onto the scene in 1992 with a string of chart topping crossover dance music singles that amazingly still sound at least as good today as they did back then, sold 1.2million singles and 350,000 copies of their debut album, did a 10 date stadium tour with U2, and won fans across the musical spectrum, with the likes of Michael Stipe and Courtney Love listing the first Utah Saints album as their favourite dance music album of all time.
So that's the ancient history, but what have they been doing since... well their over 10 year absence from the charts can mostly be explained by a major contract dispute with their record label that's left 3 complete Utah Saints albums locked in contract oblivion... ie there's 3 entire Utah Saints albums recorded that the label refused to release because they weren't cheesy enough for them, and the UTAH SAINTS put artistic integrity before commercial success and refused to sell out.
Proving that you can't keep seriously talented and committed artists down though, the Utah's set up and promoted (still promote) Sugarbeat Club every saturday night in Leeds, and once a month in Edinburgh where they've DJ alongside virtually all the biggest names in breaks, and leftfield electronic music as well as guest dj slots all over the world... plus producing and remixing under their Beat Vandals alter ego, and (allegedly) producing a whole serious of white label bootlegs for their sets to keep their hand in with the music making.
Now finally back in the charts, with a new album in the pipeline, a tour of the US and Australia in June, and a rapidly filling schedule of the Summer's coolest festival, Freaky Dancing are proud to be a small part of the UTAH SAINTS second coming.

RADIOACTIVE MAN (live) // 'GROWL' Album Launch Party
New Album released 12/05/08 on Control Tower in association with FABRIC
Keith Tenniswood aka RADIOACTIVE MAN is equal parts electronic music genius, hard partying wreckhead and all round lovely guy, which could explain why we ask him back to play so often that he's virtually a resident.
When we heard Keith was finally releasing his first album for 5 years, we figured it'd be rude for us not to host the Northeastern leg of his album launch party despite the fact that we actually already did a launch party for this album november (before the album launch got postponed)... so Keith becomes the only artist we've ever hosted 2 album launch parties for, for the same album... yes we love him that much.
It did help that when we got sent a copy of the album a couple of months ago, we realised that it was an absolutely stunning album, up there among the best electronic albums of the decade - without ever resorting to the poppy influences of the likes of the Chemical Brothers / Daft Punk, it's just pure unadulterated sublime electronica direct from the heart of the RADIOACTIVE MAN.

CHRISTOPHER D ASHLEY
(full live 4 piece electro band)
'Cruel Romantics' album launch party
NEW album released 05/05/08 on Rob Da Bank's Sunday Best label
When I first skipped through this album, I wasn't quite sure about it, then I took it on a on a rave weekend around scotland, played it on the coach, played it in the club, played it at the afterparties, played it at the flat in edinburgh I ended up squatting in for the night (thanks kim), played it on the way back and went from 'hmm not quite sure about this' to 'fuck me this is absolutely shit hot' to waking up having spent all night dreaming about it... I'm currently thinking I might need surgery to get Christopher D Ashley out of my head.
Anyway, Freaky Dancing continue our track record of promoting artists just before they burst onto the scene (like Alloy Mental last year before they blew up all over radio one) with a full live performance of the album from Christopher D Ashley's 4 piece full live band.
Here's what some of the press think of CDA...
NME - 'Sluttish warehouse electro from LONDON'S COOLEST NEW PRODUCER'
Clash Music - 'A thilling mix of pop and cutting edge influences from the dance world. Sunday Best have done it again.'
Dazed and Confused - 'Brooding Electro Pop...The arresting result is somewhere between Depeche Mode and cutting edge electro.'
