UB40 Middlesbrough

I am not one to complain but I have seen UB40 and other bands a number of times at various venues throughout the UK and have to agree this is the worst venue I have ever attended. The queing was ridiculous due to poor management. When we finally got into the venue after missing a lot of the performance. I approached a man wearing a TFM badge and asked him why the tickets were not scanned as I had heard people talking in the queue saying that they just had copies of their friends tickets, how did the know how many people they were letting in for safety reasons? I have never encountered such a rude, obnoxious man. He basically told me to go and find my ticket (which I had to give to a door man) as he wasn?t going to let me in without scanning my ticket. He was very aggressive which I can only put down to the fact that he knew what I was saying was correct. I have since read facebook comments (which seem to of been conveniently removed) stating that the security staff were telling the management what they were doing was dangerous but they were overruled. I can honestly say it was a very unsafe environment to be in, numerous fights broke out, queue?s for the toilets were so ridiculous people were going outside or to the pub next door (resulting in missing more of UB40). The police eventually had to be called due to the fact that event was so out of control.


In my opinion you need to employ staff who know what they are doing and can portray some element of customer service. I can imagine UB40 are embarrassed to have their name linked to this event because I am sure I would be.

UB40 Gig at Middlesbrough

I have seen UB40 over 20 times at various venues throught the UK and have to say this is the worst venue I have ever attended. I don't mind waiting in queue's but the only reason queue's formed was due to poor management in the venue. There was not enough staff on the entrance and to give everyone an armband was ridiculous. What should have happened was let everyone in the venue with their tickets and if anyone wanted to pop outside then use a stamp to their hand. This would have prevented any queue's forming for so long. There was not enough bar staff on the bars which again you went from one queue to another. With waiting for so long in a queue outside, the first thing that everyone did went entering the Venue was head for the toilets which resulted in a massive queue all night. There was no warning that there was stairs leading to the large floor area and the amount of people who fell down the stairs all night was unbelievable as the stairs were cluttered with cans and plastic glasses and alchohol of course. I had three pints spilled all over me from people falling down the stairs my jacket was saturated. Apart from UB40 being a class act, I can't find anything positive to say about the Venue. I would like to know why the door staff were not given the tickets back as every gig I have ever been to rip the perforated part off and give you the rest of the ticket back to you. I asked for my ticket back only to be told no ? I hope the tickets were not been given back to the ticket touts outside as this could have resulted in genuine paying fans not been able to get in the Venue? The printed fast track tickets were not scanned too? People could have printed as many tickets as they wanted and got in free ? ? ? ? You need to sort out a lot of issues before you can hold another big gig like this in the future.

UB40 were fantastic, but would agree with other reviews, 40 minutes waiting in the freezing cold even though we had purchased advanced tickets through skiddle was No FUN!
But the Music was fantastic, the Venue very good, atmosphere excellent but the admission / entry to event was absolutely bollocks

UB 40 at The Venue Middlesbrough

UB 40 Ali Campbel Astro Mickey & the rest of the band were brilliant. However the Venue I must say was the worst organized event I've ever been to. Doors were supposed to open at 7:00 but they kept us waiting for over 2 hrs in freezing temperatures without any explanation.
When we finally got in UB 40 had been on for 45mins so missed most of the show, venue was packed like sardines.
How do I claim for refund.

Feel like we did not get what we payed for

We managed to enjoy this event for what it was as it was our first proper NYE party night out in a few years, the music was overall good and the venue was just the right size to have a good atmosphere but not too crammed.
Unfortunatelly not both DJ's apeared on the set on this night and the rapping supporting act went on for a bit too long to be honest but then again that is a matter of taste, I am actually quite annoyed though that not both DJ's from Chase and Status performed as advertised and stated on the event info. so I feel a little robbed and like we didnt get what we had actually payed for.
