Volleyball England Beach Tour comes to Margate

Margate will be treated to a taste of an Olympic sport this summer as the Volleyball England Beach Tour (VEBT) descends on the local beach on 7th and 8th July, giving local residents the chance to come down and watch for free some of the top beach volleyball players in the country battle it out to become the National Beach Volleyball Champions of the year.

The high quality play will give spectators a glimpse of what can be expected from beach volleyball at this years Olympic Games in July. The VEBT launched in Great Yarmouth on 26th May and will be visiting Weston Super Mare, Skegness and Margate before the finals in Bournemouth on 25th and 26th August.

As part of Volleyball Englands Go Spike campaign, come and try beach volleyball courts are being set up across the country to encourage people to have a go at beach volleyball, completely free of charge. Whether youre a regular player or have never experienced the sport before, youre in for a treat; Volleyball England is urging everyone in Margate to dig and spike their way into volleyball and take advantage of the complimentary Go Spike Beach Courts.

As a sport, volleyball, Beach Volleyball and Sitting Volleyball, the Paralympic version of the game, will all feature at the London 2012 Games so this is your chance to get a taste of whats on offer. One of the Go Spike aims is to encourage people of any ability to get involved, get excited and follow the sport to London 2012 and beyond.
