Lineup and details for Northern Comfort v Darren Laws on Saturday 11th July 2009
After a fantastic June with DOMU and Illum Sphere, July sees us welcome back an old friend – not only to Northern Comfort but back to Manchester, where he spent his last ten years as a stalwart behind the shop counter and decks for Fat City. Since selling the bulk of his record collection and moving back to his home city of Newcastle, Manchester has literally been a bit quieter without him. All that’s about change for the better though as we say ‘Hello again, Darren Laws!’
Last down at the Sally with old chum Martin Brew back in September, Darren helped bring the party nice for a ram-up session with some chunky funk and a selection of soulful pleasers. This time around we find him solo, and in more reflective mood promising – as befits all men of a certain age – some jazz and more earthy, eclectic nuggets. Hurrah I say for one, should be a great night (as ever).
Peering intently over Darren’s shoulder and earnestly stroking chins in the background will be Northern Comfort residents.
