Caged Asylum, the weekly rock/metal club in Manchester. Manchester club night Caged Asylum has already built an incredible reputation as the city's premiere rock/metal party venue. The night, held at The Ruby Lounge, has become one of the country's most vital metal events and runs every Saturday from 10pm-4am.
Caged Asylum has all the ingredients needed for an electric night out. The playlist features the biggest names in metal ranging from classics such as Pantera and Slayer, the new school sounds of Lamb of God and Killswitch Engage and crossover rock from Queens of the Stone Age and Rage Against The Machine -- all given a thunderous sheen by a killer 40k sound system. Drinks are great value (example prices being £2.50 for a Stella or vodka and Red Bull) and the vibe easy going and unpretentious.
But where the club really stands out from the crowd is with its themed nights. From the Wild West (featuring a mechanised bull) to live participation sumo wrestling and even a custard party, the Caged Asylum team really know how to provide scintillating entertainment to a good time crowd.
And if you need to take a breather from all that, the adjacent Viper Lounge hosts the hottest lapdancers for rock fans and open-minded couples.
Caged Asylum has already earned the patronage of the Eagles of Death Metal,Napalm Death,Atreyu,Still Remains,Hed PE,Bleeding Through,Breed 77,The Ultimate Fighting Championships Bruce Buffer,Eddie Bravo,Matt "The Terra" Serra and 's Fear Factor's Joe Rogan.

Where is this lovely Ruby Lounge?

It’s right in the city centre and hugged on two sides by the ever-evolving creative hub that is The Northern Quarter.

How do I get there?
For bus or rail times and routes go to www.gmpte.com
Maps of Manchester City centre, the tram network (metro link), the bus route boundaries and also an overview of the whole transport network can be found on the ‘Maps’ section of this site.

Local directions / on foot….
From Victoria mainline station and/or the Shudehill bus interchange: Walk up the tram lines (not literally please) towards town and when you get to the Arndale Centre, we are on the left hand side of High Street. If you get to Debenhams or Primark, turn around and walk back about 40 paces.

From Piccadilly mainline station: Turn right out of the station walking towards town/Market Street. Keep walking straight on till you get to the

Market Street
tram (metro link) stop. Follow the tram lines round to the right and we are a few more steps along on the right hand side.

How old do I have to be to get into The Ruby Lounge and will I need ID?
As we have a liquor license we can only legally let in over 18’s. If you are fantastically lucky enough to look under 21, it’s best to bring ID (passport, photo driving licence or Portman group ID card are all good). ID must have your date of birth on it as it's pretty pointless otherwise and if it looks like its home made or bought on the ‘T’Internet’ you may be going home alone!

What time does The Ruby Lounge stay open till?

If it is just the show, we will usually close between 1 and 2 hours after the last act finishes. If, however there is a club night continuing on afterwards then we usually open till anywhere between half 2 and 4am. If it is just the show, we will usually close between 1 and 2 hours after the last act finishes. If, however there is a club night continuing on afterwards then we usually open till anywhere between half 2 and 4am.

What time does the bar close?
We can serve alcohol all night (last orders at 4am) but obviously if we are closing earlier, last orders will be 20 minutes before kickin-out time.

Whats to drink?
Draught – Becks. Ciders - Magners, Strongbow and Gaymers. Bottled ales, bitters and white beers are too numerous to mention (40 at the last count). Bottled beers/lagers – Peroni, Staropramen, Stella, Leffe, Hoegaarden, Guinness, Newkie brown, Belle-Vue, Franziskaner …. Well stocked spirits bar incl lots of Jagermeister, JD, Johnie Walker black label, black or white Sambuca etc.

How much is a Lapdance?
Lapdances usually start from £10 for full nude. Please be aware not all of our Vixens go full nude, so ask before you engage. Most Vixens are also happy to double and triple up, negotiate your price first. Most of the Vixens will happily dance for couples and girls. Don't be shy and have fun.

What is the music policy?
The music policy is Rock and Metal, we do not play any indie music or Emo. You may hear the odd heavy bass driven dance track by Prodigy and alike. The Dj's are happy to take requests as long as it fits in with our style.
 Is there a smoking area?
Yes we have a fully sheltered friendly smoking area. Customers are given a stamp so they can come in and out of the club freely from the hours of 10pm - 2am. The doors are closed off from 2am as to keep out any undesirables. All we ask, is that smokers have their last cigarette as close to 2am as possible.
