Lineup and details for Mr. B - the Gentleman Rhymer. Live gig @ the Lass! on Wednesday 8th July 2009

On the eve of a trimphant debutin Manchester, let us introduce you to Mr B The Gentleman Rhymer, the banjolele-playing, ghetto-blasting, pipe-smoking creator of 'chap-hop' from the South East.

Having spent the best part of a decade bringing some manners back to popular culture, this dopest of fellows will entertain and amuse you with his ingenious stylings.

Aiming to dazzle with dignity, Mr. B takes to the stage with his Banjolele and stiff upper lip to perform ditties of pipe-smoking, high society, Cricket and sexual misadventure, as well as some more well-known pieces from the world of Hip-Hop, re-worked in true Chap-Hop fashion.

Undisputedly the baddest Edwardian in the music scene today, Mr. B's unique blend of old-school breaks and period hooks is guaranteed to get any joint jumping. Having enjoyed numerous past successes, including a Banjolele performance at Fatboy Slim's birthday party, being sole guardian of the gramophone at John Peel's 60th, penning one of the biggest football songs of all time and spending time as a member of cult beat-combo ‘The Schooner Boys', he has, more recently, successfully sneaked the track ‘A Piece Of My Mind' onto Japan's Second Royal Records' compilation album ‘Second Royal - Volume 3' (released in August 2007), and has just released his debut album Flattery not Included.

His influences are varied - Chuck D, Terry-Thomas, Afrika Bambaataa and George Formby - and his subject matter centres on the finer aspects of old-scool Brit culture (cricket, tea on the lawn, good manners) juxtaposed with a a dryly inspired commentary (see track: Timothy) mixed with urban licks and vintage beats.
