Jeff Mills was theee most shite i've ever seen. Think he was playing the same couple of records all night! I'm a big Mills fan but after friday i will think twice about goin to see him again !! One thing that did rescue the night for me though was the colour guys upstairs. Quality stuff goin on in there with a great atmosphere! Tribal Sessions ... i wouldnt have paid Jeff that night if it was my club !

Not the best i have heard off Mr Mills but still had a good dance. The venue was small but had a nice atmosphere. I will definitely be going back sometime :-)

![]() martian Offline Points:10 Posts: 1 | Jeff Mill and Tribal sessions way off target Overall rating: ![]() This was a poor night. A gang of us head upto Manc, excited that Jeff was in town. we are all big fans, love his music and his DJ sets... What happened here TS ? this was THE most boring flat music I have ever heard!! TECHNO GV and Michale de Hey just plodded along...plink plonk..plink plonk..upstairs we hoped the color guys would put something on..but no..just bang bang clatter....So waiting for Jeff..and what was it ??? dull dull, never even got slightly going..like Jaybone said like the same record all night. there was brief false alarm of excitement as Jeff dropped Joey Beltram's mentasm only to go straightback to that dull plinly plonky sound. we didnt even get half the diversity and breadth of Jeffs own compositions...and the main part was identical to jeffs dullish warehouse project set last November... tewnty minutes from the end and Jeff picked up a little but not enough to salvage this oneIm afraid....and hey if this is Techno 2009 it needs a kickstart...and that goes for Jeff and the Colour guys and the Manc tech scene in general ...wheres the soul ? wheres the funk ? wheres the sci fi and power ?? Fully appreciate Jeff the serious artist but sorry Jeff...if people are coming out to see you..please try a bit harder... And as a final comment...Sankeys goers way too much booze and too many fakers with attitude on the dancefloor...NEVER in nearly fifteen years of going to Jeff have I had to step over sick on the dancefloor...sorry I dont have anything more positive to say about this night...IT WAS A MAJOR MAJOR DISSAPOINTMENT

![]() Tech7 Offline Points:20 Posts: 2 | Colour = GOOD. Jeff = BAD. Overall rating: ![]() As always, Sankeys was a good venue (when I heard they were gonna change it a few years back was very sceptical...thought they were just selling out, but the new layout is SO good!). Upstairs Colour banged out the beats as they always do, with a nice mix of classics from the past couple years and now. That was the 1st time I've been up there too and it's a nice little space...cieling is a nice idea. As for Jeff Mills, I can only say it was right up there with one of my biggest disapointments of all time! Have NEVER heard a bad set from the guy, maybe the odd off mix (he's only human) but the track selections were shocking. As mentioned by martian, was just stagnent music, it went nowhere. I can only imagine it was because the stuff on earlier had been more of a minimal feel to it so he thought that was the vibe for the place...but people don't go to Mills for fashionable minimal shite, they go for out and out Techno/Detroit Techno as it should be. Can't agree with the idea that the Manchester scene is loosin it though, I'm based in London for most of the year and miss nothin more than the Techno scene up North!
