Sequence Residents: Computer Controlled & P45
Fresh from our huge recent residency at the old Paradise Factory club and the massive Urbis party, July sees the next phase of Sequence swiftly kicking into action with the commencement of a new monthly residency at one of Manchesters longest-running and finest venues Sankeys.
The main room sees a huge triple-header with headlining sets from big guns Luke Slater, Dj Godfather and Billy Nasty. The name Luke Slater is synonymous with electronic music whether through his eclectic solo output through Novamute, the ground-breaking, fierce live techno of Planetary Assault Systems or his killer Dj sets as most recently demonstrated through his 2007 Fabric mix. Dj Godfather is one of the USAs finest exports. Since he first burst onto the scene he has quickly developed into one of Detroits finest performance Djs able to hold a crowd firmly on the dancefloor with his choice of infectious ghetto-tech bombs whilst simultaneously blowing their minds with his unparalleled scratch Dj skills. Billy Nasty is one of the worlds most in-demand Djs, spinning his trademark blend of minimal, techno and house for near on fifteen years at a professional level. He has performed at most the biggest dance events around the globe, also finding the time in his busy schedule to run two hugely successful record labels and enjoy an extensive recording career. Support in the main room from Jay Knight the main man behind the Locked clubnight and label.
Upstairs sees headlining sets from Altern 8 and Radioactive Man. Altern 8 need no introductions! Mixing breakbeat with rave rhythms, the duo produced some of the best hardcore and rave of the 1990s with hits like Activ8 and Evapor8 storming the charts and becoming massive hits at the time. Altern 8 were almost as famous for their stunts as they were for their music which included running for the general election, impromptu raves in club car parks and distributing Christmas puddings to the poor from a hot air balloon bearing the words The Poor Know The Score on them (an idea which was unsurprisingly shelved). Sequence favourite Keith Radioactive Man Tenniswood will also be in attendance for our launch party. Keith has had a prolific career in the music industry, producing with Andrew Weatherall on Warp as Two Lone Swordsmen, through his own bass-heavy electro productions on the RGC and Fabric labels and his trademark rolling techno Dj sets. Support on the night comes from Mike Williamson, Gescom collaborator, key member of the Skam collective and the talented producer behind the experimental MADE project.
