Beat Hive: Feat Dr Syntax tickets and listings

BEATHIVE ...

is an eclectic night, bringing the best in hip hop, ragga and drum and bass to Manchesters discerning music scene.

This month the Beat Hive crew are relocating to one of the citys finest venues, the Roadhouse, for a night of live hip hop from a UK rap legend.

Dr Syntax first arrived on the scene in 2003 as a peripheral member of the world-renowned Foreign Beggars, appearing on 2 songs on their classic debut, Asylum Speakers.

He has torn up shows with them everywhere from the Glastonbury Festival to Hip Hop Kemp in the Czech Republic, and has released 2 acclaimed albums, 2007's Self Taught and last years Benny Huge through their Dented Records imprint.

His new live show features super producer Pete Cannon (recently co-signed by Gangstarrs DJ Premier on his radio show), MC Derogatory (Surreal Knowledge) and vocalist Rebecca Stephens (The Pipettes). Expect floor-rumbling beats, witty, on-point lyrics and top-notch showmanship from one of the best live hip hop/drum and bass acts in the UK!

Supplying the buzz early on is Beathive resident DJ Machine Elf, with an explosive broken beat selection to set things off in fine style. Up-and-coming hip hop artist Distorted View will be showcasing his unique brand of leftfield lyricism, while hivesman DJ Covert will be flexing his slick skills to round off proceedings with rumbling drum n bass fierceness!
