The Vendetta Quartet - Exclusive to Matt and Phred's Jazz Club!
It is an honour to announce a new project that will bring some of the UK’s finest Jazz talent to Matt and Phred’s Jazz Club, Manchester over the next few months.
Jon, alongside the cream of the North-West’s Jazz talent, will bring a new soloist to Manchester each month. December will begin with a visit from Mike Gorman on e of the UK’s finest talents.

Jon Thorne is renowned as a passionate, energetic and highly skilled performer. His 20 year career as a double bassist has spanned a broad range of the musical spectrum. As bassist and composer in the acclaimed ground breaking trip hop/drum and bass band Lamb he recorded 4 albums, toured 32 countries in 5 continents and played at most of the worlds leading festivals. He has also recorded and performed with artists as diverse as Trilok Gurtu, Robert Fripp, Donovon, Robert Miles, Guy Barker, Jesca Hoop, Lou Rhodes, James Yorkston, King Creosote, and Martha Tilston. His current solo album is Watching The Well, written for and featuring Danny Thompson.
Mike Gorman is one of the best and most in demand pianists on the UK jazz scene. Based in London, he has played with Mica Paris, Us3, Incognito, Gwen McCrea, Van Morrison, Andrea Bocelli, Georgie Fame, Michael Urbaniak, Jimmy Witherspoon, Stacey Kent and Jim Mullen.
Neil Yates has been described as "a true musical polymath." Undoubtedly amongst the most innovative and skilful trumpeters in the UK his jazz CV includes NYJO, Peter King, Don Weller, Denys Baptiste, Jazz Jamaica All Stars, Alex Wilson and Clark Tracey. His session work includes The Brand New Heavies, Supergrass, Black Grape, Lighthouse Family, Alison Moyet, Will Young, Raw Stylus, Suggs, Matt Bianco and Robbie Williams. His is also involved in Celtic and traditional music scenes playing and recording with giants Michael McGoldrick, Kate Rusby, John McCusker, Karen Matheson and Karen Tweed.
Luke Flowers is widely regarded as one of the top UK drummers of his generation. He has recently returned from a 2 year world tour with Corrine Bailey Rae. He is also the drummer for the Cinematic Orchestra. He has also worked with US soul legend Fontella Bass and UK hip-hop star Roots Manuva. Over the past 15 years he has been an inspiration on the Manchester scene.
The group play a diverse mixture of original and standard compositions to bring a powerful edge to their contemporary jazz sound.
