Matt and Phred's: The East West Jazz Collective listings

Michael Cretu is a composer/double bassist and one of the very few in the world who have recorded Caprice 24 by Paganini.
Michael began studying the Double Bass at the age of twelve at the G. Enescu school of music in Bucharest. After graduation he joined the Romanian National Radio Symphony Orchestra. In 1990 Michael received a scholarship to study at the Royal northern College of Music in Manchester UK. He was principal Double Bassist with the London Schubert Players Chamber Orchestra for four years and is still a very active chamber musician. He has performed with violinist Cristina Anghelescu (winner of the Sibelius International competition) with whom he toured Europe and South America. Michael's work is published by Liben Music Publishers, Cincinnati, USA. He has performed as a solo and chamber bassist, performing his own compositions, at major concert halls in the UK and Europe.

He is joined by Jessica Tansey to form the East/West Jazz Trio.
