The RZA - the legendary genius behind Wu-Tang Clan headlines as Bobby Digital in a showcase of leftfield hip-hop, celebrating the creative spirit behind contemporary experimentation in the genre. Evening also features electro-hop producer Flying Lotus and Glasgow's prodigal son Rustie.

Headlining the Futuresonic 2008 Music Strand will be legendary Hip Hop producer and genius behind The Wu Tang Clan, The RZA as Bobby Digital. Through a genre-defining career, RZA has become a near mystical figure, respected as much for his business savvy as his chameleon like reinvention, always leading from the front in the ever changing world of hip hop culture. A true global superstar and a fitting ambassador for the cutting edge mix of music that makes up the celebrated Futuresonic Music strand, he headlines on the opening night May 1st.

// Flying Lotus
The first LA based artist to sign to the legendary Warp label, Flying Lotus is a hip-hop producer who comes from a unique musical lineage, he is the grandson of Alice Coltrane and wears that heavy burden of expectation with pride personifying that ground-breaking sprit that changed the face of Jazz and reinventing it for 2008. A true musical maverick, his left-field take on hip hop is set to blow the roof off Futuresonic.

Glasgow’s prodigal son Rustie is THE sound of Glasgow’s current underground renaissance. An electronic maverick of the highest order, Rustie, marries the energy of hyphy with the low slung bass of dubstep while straddling the stuttering swagger of European electronica with effortless aplomb.

Join us for 5 days and nights of live music, exhibitions, club nights and events featuring a world-class programme of over 300 artists at 100 events in 30 venues and spaces across the city-centre.
The 2008 theme is The Social - Social Networking Unplugged, the first comprehensive and creative look at social networking by an art festival.
