KODE9 (HYPERDUB)
Steve Goodman is an author, DJ, producer and head honcho of the hugely influential Hyperdub imprint. He's also got a new album coming out in April so we'd be right in thinking he's a very pretty busy man. So with this in mind, its fair to say we're absolutly delighted that hes been able to find space in his schedule for a rare performance in Manchester.
Through Hyperdub, he has been responsible for releasing some of most memorable and genre-defining music known to man. Burial's debut LP is arguably the biggest and most important release to date that Kode has overseen, but the label also played host to Flying Lotus, Zomby and The Bug while also proving to be fertile ground for new artists by giving debut releases to artists such as Cooly G and Ikonika.
All this aside, he's an absolutely cracking DJ as well and anybody who has heard his DJ kicks mix or his sets recently will testify that this is a performance not to be missed!
DREXCIYAN DJ STINGRAY (DETROIT/ REPHLEX / PLANET E / URBAN TRIBE)
Inspired by hip hop in the early 80's and Detroits first wave of house and techno DJ's, Sherard Ingram has gone on to spend most of his career surrounded by some of the most influential artists of our time. A favourite of ours for quite a while now, Sherard was the closest outside link to the mysterious Drexicya project.
He's well known for his ferocious, fast paced electro and techno sets that push Detroit's edgier electronic offerings and has amassed an impressive back catalogue of releases on some of the most repected labels around such as Rephlex, Planet E and Mo Wax. He has also recently released under his Urban Tribe monikor, recording alongside Carl Craig, Moodyman and Anthony 'Shake' Shakir.
Not bad company eh?
Were absolutely thrilled to have him over and we cant wait for what promises to be an extremely special evening of music.
