Lineup and details
- Sat May 24th - 7.30pm - £8 entry
Singing songs about Syd Barrett and sounding like overexcited school children playing Jonathan Richman covers, The Television Personalities were always a band that would find it hard to fit in. After hearing Part Time Punks for the first time youd either rush out and buy yourself a guitar or youd never listen to music again.
Their first album, And Dont The kids Just Love It, epitomised the late 70s DIY punk attitude with a simplicity and directness that revealed Dan Treacy as a writer of fragile, idiosyncratic and deeply personal songs, providing a focus for the rest of the TVPS output.
This, a rare Manchester date for the TVPS, will see them with their current line-up of: Dan Treacy (Guitar/ Vocals), Texas Bob Juarez (Guitar), Mike Stone (Bass) and Kev Mann (Drums).
Support comes from shouty sci-fi surf popsters The Container Drivers, the short, sharp jangle-pop of Amida and all singing, screaming and shouting trio of Hotpants Romance!
