Lineup and Details for Stop Look Listen : hosted by Zoe Konez : with Sparrow, Cecille Grey, James Riley & No Middle Name on Thu 2nd August 2012
No Middle Name
hosted by Zoe Konez
--- Sparrow ---
Sparrow craft beautiful, thoughtful pop music. Using natural, unprocessed sounds, resonant girl/boy harmonies and hypnotic rhythmic arrangements, Sparrow have developed a striking and unique sound.
Challenging, addictive, warm; Sparrow's music looks at the everyday things that go uncelebrated in a cold modern world.
This is Sparrow's second outing to Stop Look Listen. Last year Sparrow won us all over and we are extremely excited to have them return to play material from their critically acclaimed new album "However Did The Wolf Get In".
Sparrow's appearance at Stop Look Listen is also the official launch of their latest single "Move".
--- Cecille Grey ---
"We are not Jazz" states the tagline on Cecille Grey's website. It should also be pointed out that Cecille Grey is not one person or indeed any person.
Cecille Grey are an established part of the Midlands' music scene. They create their own unique brand of carefully crafted alternative pop with strong influences from the worlds of folk and indie.
Their eponymous debut EP is a gloriously moody introduction to the band's evolving sound. Finger-picked guitar, brushed drums and wandering bass lines complement subtle vocal acrobatics and wistful, silky lyrics. The highs and lows encountered leave plenty of space for quiet contemplation.
--- James Riley ---
With one hand scribbling lyrics onto the back of a roadmap, and the other held aloft to thumb down a ride, London born singer-songwriter James Riley is a troubadour of the kind many thought no longer exist.
A 'fiendishly proficient' guitarist, singer, and a roadrunner to match, James chronicles the story of his experiences through clamorous, jubilant bluegrass 'n' soul and exquisitely spun yarns, told through ethereal, almost hymn-like ballads of love and life.
--- No Middle Name ---
One half of The Title Sequence, No Middle Name is the solo project of multi talented David Bailey.
With The Title Sequence and in various other solo and collaborative guises, David has had numerous releases and extensive radio play.
--- Zoe Konez ---
Zoe tears up the singer-songwriter stereotype, delivering rousing tales through blazing guitar gymnastics, intense vocal melodies, edgy altered-tunings and irregular-rhythms.
From the North West to the South Coast, settling in London via Australia, Zoe Konez is a force of well-travelled, indefinable acoustica.
