A shame

Overall rating: 3.5

Well what to say? Great vibes from all of the other people in attendance, although sadly I think this was partly down to being subjected to the same issues.

The sound in the venue was really really bad, across both rooms. Downstairs there was little sonic clarity and lots of bass reflections, making certain tracks unlistenable at times. Upstairs the system was also not up to the job, often with some painful treble and not enough bass, although this is more forgivable in a second room.

I should make it clear that this criticism is not aimed at the artists or sound crew, but directly at the greedy/naive/ignorant promoters. Within the cost of my £12 ticket I expect, especially for a DJ set and not a live set (a much cheaper booking), that the sound is excellent and not something that has been compromised to keep costs down.

Everyone in attendance was there because they loved music and it's frustrating not to be able to appreciate in order to line the promoters pockets.

Big ups due to the guys who kept the vibes alive playing Jungle upstairs, you saved the night for us, and my sympathies to the crew playing late downstairs, not your fault the system sounded so bad and kept the people away.

My final thoughts: Mr and Mrs promoters, don't try and cash the **** in on our great bass music scene, support it, get a decent rig with someone who knows how to run it and you'll find that people will turn up to your next night. And if you didn't already know that then you shouldn't be getting involved at all,
