To mark the Co-operatives Fortnight initiative (25th June - 9th July), TPFF hosts a free screening of 'The Take' - a powerful and moving film made by Naomi Klein about auto-workers in Buenos Aires who take control over their destiny when the collapse of their banks and economy leaves the nation in shock.
It is 2005 and Latin Americas most prosperous middle class finds itself facing ghost towns with abandoned factories and mass unemployment. Klein follows one story thirty unemployed car workers in Buenos Aires who occupy their idle factory and refuse to leave. All they want is to restart the machines the result is a real-life political thriller that pits ordinary workers against the local ruling elite factory owners, politicians and judges.
The event is free so come on time or a little earlier if you want a seat (Max 80 capacity.)
