GET IN!!
2007 is turning into a bright new world for dance music new clubs, new music, and new opportunities for the rising stars of the industry - the people at the coal face of club culture who actually supply the music to the dancefloor. The time has come for certain DJs to step up.
Neil Quigley is one such DJ someone who has quietly served his apprenticeship at the fringes of the industry and has now been officially indentured to the noble profession of the global DJ. Neil is quintessentially a music man, one of those among us who become sonic obsessive in listening to music, making music and playing music for other peoples enjoyment.
He first came to notice via his Pacemaker compilation series, and for the artistry with which he constructed his sets. Its no surprise that quickly brought him to the attention of that other mix connoisseur John Digweed, who asked Neil to warm up for him at Bedrock parties at Heaven and Fabric, invited him to feature on his Kiss FM Transitions show twice and named him as his DJ for the Future in DJmag. Contact soon followed with Renaissance, for whom Neil has DJd everywhere from
Neil is enjoying the naturalistic way that the dancefloor has spoken, inviting him to make the organic transition from warm-up to headline. His A&R role with celebrated label Urbantorque gives his day focus, spent amongst the music that he loves. Look out for his collaboration with Nick Muir Feedback From The City, which will be out on Urbantorque on August 3rd and is already getting major props, followed by a track with Milton Jackson, around September/October, as well as remix projects.
If youd like to hear the man play, check Neil at these selected up-coming gigs:
June 16th Urbantorque at Sonar Mochima Bar,
June 22nd Beatfreak Raduno,
Thursday June 28th - Urbantorque party, AKA,
July 14th Exit Festival
July 28th Global Gathering Long Marston,
Alternatively, tune into his monthly show on protonradio.com, or else download his past mixes to turn onto what has got the likes of Bedrock and Renaissance so excited
what Neil himself calls electronic house with soul.
