Lineup and details
WTF? Is the first in a brand new mix series from the London label, Pieces of Eight Records, and on this inaugural offering the Freakybeatz DJs flex dance music muscle, flawlessly bring together some of the biggest artists and remixers of the moment for a musical mash up thats about people, noise, melody and beats.
Filthy, head-banging party music; a combination of rock, pop and dance, this album perfectly captures the current scene. Beginning with the cinematic sounds of Hybrid and soulful house of Trentemoller & Faze Action, the mix quickly begins to gain energy into a darker, more techy affair, with tracks from Riton, Lo-Fi-Fnk and Duke Dumont, before taking in the electro breaks of Goose and Pieces of Eight label mates Black Daniel.
Two-step globetrotters Chromeo are, in their own words, the only successful Arab/Jew partnership since the dawn of time and boy do they work well together. Here they draft in Guns n Bombs to step up to the plate and cause some serious damage remixing Fancy Footwork. Think funk, think distortion.
Elsewhere the Max Sedgley classic Happy gets a thorough Go Home Productions turning over just wait for the bass drop on this one, believe! While Breakspoll 2008s Best Breakthrough Producer Alex Metric puts his prize-winning digits to Black Daniels Gimme What You Got in an LCD Soundsystem meets Marc Bolan down a dark alley foray. And be sure to stay open-eared towards the end of the album for the sublime, and much sought after, Sebastian Dub reworking of Camera by Birmingham indie rockers Editors; where Jean Michel Jarre synths meet jack hammer beats under Tom Smiths distinctive vocal.
What The F**K? We hear you ask? Find out for yourself.....
