Named after The Shins' first album, Oh, Inverted World has been hosting some of the best parties in town this year with live performances from the likes of Eugene McGuinness, Josh Weller, Tim Ten Yen and regular DJ sets from Pirates In Love! and Rad!o Edit. Now OIW is in residence at Madame Jojo's and there's a storming line-up for the launch night with Stricken City headlining. Expect plenty of cake as usual. Stricken City: A sultry, lo-fi London foursome that make gorgeous guitar-pop. Led by the striking Rebekah Raa, Stricken City have been getting a well-deserved amount of attention recently and are just about set to sky-rocket. They have wasted no time since forming early this year, with tours with I Was A Cub Scout and a performance on the Sunrise Stage at Latitude Festival already under their belts. They have recently recorded a three-track EP produced by Tim Holmes (Death in Vegas) and one by Sleeping States. Live, their endearing and atmospheric performance is truly captivating. www.myspace.com/weareexlovers - La Shark: London five piece La Shark will be remembered as something remarkable by anyone who’s seen the ramshackle brilliance of their live shows in the past few months. Describing themselves as ‘riddle pop’, La Shark offer great beats, quirky lyrics, pretty harmonies, pandemonic circus-clown percussion and overall weirdness. Faintly reminiscent of Mystery Jets, they create intelligent anarchy which makes for addictive listening - definately one to watch. www.myspace.com/lasharkband - Dallas: Punk-rock band Dallas will open the show. Since their recent incarnation, the band have already played dates at Islington Academy, The Macbeth and The Barfly. Dallas write emotional songs for punk-rockers and promise to play for you until they bleed. This band gives it their all, so make sure you don’t miss out. Plus Oh, Inverted World DJs playing the best current electro, indie, rock and pop.
