People’s Parties & Lebanese Underground present: Other Voices from Beirut: LUMI + Nadine Khouri + Guest DJs Lumi Mayaline Hage (vocals, lyrics) and Marc Codsi (guitar, electronics) met in Beirut’s free-improvised music scene and formed Lumi in 2005. Shortly after releasing their self-titled EP, they signed a deal with EMI and went into the studio with German producer Andi Toma (Mouse on Mars, Von Sudenfed) to record their highly awaited first album. The resulting ‘Two Tears in Water’ is a highly explosive mix of jagged beats, rock riffs, and infectious melodies, laden with social commentary about life in Beirut. www.myspace.com/lumisounds Nadine Khouri Nadine Khouri is a Beirut-born singer-songwriter influenced by displacement and rock n'roll. One of the rare guitar-touting females of her generation, she produced and self-released her debut ‘Cuts From the Inside’ in 2005. Live, she brings her unique brooding voice, intricate finger-picking, and loop experimentation, to convey her confessional songs of love and exile.
