Vive La France! Join us Sat 12th and Sun 13th of July for the annual French party here at EGG. LA VIE EN ROSE is our special event in honour of Bastille day on the 14th of July. It’s a huge celebration in France and also a national holiday. Here in the EGG office we LOVE anything French so this is one of our favourite parties of the calendar year! Last year we had a monster French DJ line-up that included SÉBASTIEN LEGER and CHLOE, it was a road block event, so this year we hope you can come and help us to make it an EVEN more fabulous party then last year!
With the EUROSTAR now coming directly from Paris into EGG’s neighbourhood of Kings Cross, we’re now the main London clubbing link to downtown Paris. With this in mind we will also be advertising the party in Paris too, so expect some extra authentic fun in the form of our chic Gaelic clubland pals from across the channel, plus of course the crème of the French community from London. You can also be sure in true EGG in-house party tradition we will be laying on MAGNIFIQUE, opulent and amazing decor all around the garden and main venue. This time in the theme of the MOULIN ROUGE. Think Paris circa 1900 and everything that comes with it. There will be free Champagne and Absinth cocktails from 9-11pm, Tecktonic dancers from Paris and Parcour style acrobats performing around the venue! If this wasn’t enough its also the birthday weekend of EGGs in-house promoter (and self confessed Francophile) Melissa Frost so this party is sure is go with an “Ooh La La!!”
This year we have an extra special treat DJ wise (all headliner DJs will be French bien sûr!) in the form of ALAN BRAXE (http://www.myspace.com/alanbraxe); Alan first jumped on to the scene in 1997 with Vertigo, released under THOMAS BANGALTER from DAFT PUNK’S label: ROULÉ. A few month later, along with DAFT PUNK’S THOMAS BANGALTER and BENJAMIN DIAMOND, Alan produced one of the biggest dance track in electronic music’s history : STARDUST’S: “MUSIC SOUNDS BETTER WITH YOU” (click to hear: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x15q06_stardust-music-sounds-better-with-y_music) The track was an instant worldwide hit. In the year 2000, Braxe released another VERY famous track “INTRO” (click to hear: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3vzy0_alan-braxe-fred-falke-intro_music). To this day, the record is still a continuous big seller and is still played as a dancefloor classic.
We are also very pleased to welcome from Montpellier, TOM POOKS (http://www.tompooks.com/). Regularly playing with RICHIE HAWTIN, CARL COX and JOSH WINK, to name a few, his tracks have been signed to prestigious labels, like OVUM and KOMPAKT. Those labels definitely gave him an international status, allowing him to play everywhere, from South America to Russia and all Europe. Alongside Tom will be TIM PARIS (http://www.myspace.com/timparis), After building up a dj reputation in Parisian underground circles, doing parties with JEF K, CHLOÉ, ALEXKID and IVAN SMAGGHE, Tim teamed up with Jef K to help him develop the now infamous CRACK & SPEED label. Now based in London, Tim is considered by both DJs and press as one to watch in a (very) near future.
Up in the Loft we have an authentic Parisian treat for you. Flying over specially for the party are an 11 piece Afrobeat Funk band from Paris called: CAFE-CREME & LES FRERES SMITH (I’d seriously suggest clicking and having a listen: http://www.myspace.com/cafecreme) they’ve distilled their contraband music since 1999 all over the French capital, in provinces and in Europe. These guys will be playing live and direct and are guaranteed to get you up and dancing wildly to 70’s oriented compositions that will haunt you. After 8 years of existence, they have gained a real legitimacy on the French Afrofunk scene. Considered as an authentic AND innovative band, this collective will delight all who listen, bad boys and girls get ready to dance crazy!! Super cool!!
