THE LEGENDARY UNDERWORLD CONFIRMED AS SATURDAY HEADLINERS!
"London is our town and we love to play in front of a home crowd. SW4 is going to be amazing this year and we can't wait to play there. It's a party in the sun for London's night people. See you there". Karl Hyde (Underworld)
Karl Hyde and Rick Smith aka Underworld are the undisputed heavyweights of the electronic world. Famed for their spine-tingling techno/rock fusion, their sound has been widely acclaimed in both commercial and underground domains for over 20 years. Born Slippy smashed both, the perfect marriage of house, techno, drum & bass and pop. Those chords forming arguably the greatest dance track ever, it was included in the film Trainspotting and sold over 750 000 copies in the process. Such epic crossovers have been a sturdy platform for success, having released six monstrous albums including the best selling Oblivion With Bells On and the most recent Barking.
Into the live arena and rocking stadium sized crowds is second nature having headlined the likes of the Glastonbury, Glade and the legendary Love Parade. Not to mention last years sell out concerts in London, Manchester and Glasgow. In the process these broke new ground with stunning visuals and incredible sound engineering. No superlative can do justice to undoubtedly one of the most influential acts of the past three decades. With the duo snapped up to soundtrack Danny Boyles recent production of Frankenstein at the National Theatre what more proof do you need?
Jetting into the capital for a huge homecoming at SW4 fresh from headlining Ultra, Sonar and Exit, were delighted to finally welcome Underworld rounding off their festival season in true style. Do not miss it!
Sven Väth will bring his world famous techno imprint Cocoon to SW4 for the very first time this summer, as he celebrates his personal milestone of 30 years behind the decks. His infectious, vibrant and fun loving attitude is sure to attract the crowds to his arena, which boasts a line-up featuring some of the finest names in underground music. This includes the incredible Loco Dice who over the past few years has seen his stature rise to become one of the most devastating and respected DJs on the planet. Adding a live element to proceedings were delighted to welcome Tiefschwarz. Whether its in the studio or in the club, this duo constantly turn heads with timeless productions, remixes and live performances. Also playing live is Guy Gerber. The Israeli tech-house star is no stranger to the worlds biggest events, so the green grass of Clapham Common will suit him down to the ground. The legendary Josh Wink returns to the Common this summer after his sensational performance at last years SW4. He is joined by Cocoons very own Tobi Neumann and the UKs hottest rising underground house star Tim Green. We cant wait.
Global trance sensations Above & Beyond are set to take their Group Therapy album showcase across Europe this summer with festival appearances across the continent. But none get the juices flowing more than their arena at SW4 2011. The trio will be joined by fellow trance giant Ferry Corsten. A mainstay in DJ Mags Top 100 DJs poll over the past ten years, Ferry is a true international DJ having worked with and played with, the biggest talent on the planet. Hell be joined by Radio 1s Judge Jules who is no stranger to SW4 having played on numerous occasions. The Judgement Sundays head honcho remains one of the worlds most in demand DJs with bookings coming in from the worlds leading clubs. AVA Recordings label boss Andy Moor also joins the line-up alongside Anjunabeats stalwarts Super8 & Tab, Mat Zo and Jaytech. Boasting an arena full of the biggest names in trance, were in for a treat as The Group Therapy Arena brings some power packed melody and euphoria to South West Four.
Arguably Londons finest underground house night, we are delighted to welcome Shake It! back to SW4 for the first time since 2009. Shake It! residents Layo & Bushwacka! will be joined by our favourite Frenchman Mr Laurent Garnier who headlines proceedings, bringing with him his mindblowing LBS showcase alongside Benjamin Rippert and Stephane Scan X Dri. Garnier himself explains that while L.B.S. officially stands for Live Booth Sessions, a more fitting name would be Loud Bass and Samples and this exclusive performance is sure to be as thrilling as it is ground breaking. Tiga returns to Clapham Common this summer having previously performed at Get Loaded in the Park. On SW4 duty this time round, were delighted to add the Canadians electronic sounds to a hugely impressive Shake It! showcase. German duo M.A.N.D.Y. return to South West Four having played alongside Carl Cox at last years event. One of the stand out performers last summer, expect the Body Language pioneers to be back with a bang. Completing the line-up were delighted to welcome Spencer Parker. One of Europes leading house DJs, his unique style is in major demand so were delighted to have secured his services this summer.
