Ojos de Brujo Sessions details
Ojos de Brujos Panko, Max & Carlitos in a de puta
madre sound system to bop to til you drop
+ guest dj [dunkebunt] from
Vienna under the auspices of the Balkan Fever festival
Here one of this years most exciting club nights.
Featuring DJ Panko, Max and
Carlitos, members of legendary Barcelonians Ojos de Brujo, ODB Sessions
invite you to a sound system of folky, hip-hop fusion mixed with electronica,
slick turntablism, flamenco & Latin-Cuban roots; this is as fresh and
potent as someone punching a fresh lettuce into your ears!
The launch of the night in
March ended up in a mesmerising jam
session with a parade of Londons best talent getting on stage among
which were MC, beatboxer and performance poet Skorpio frontman of DJ Ritus Asian Equation in the 90s and
collaborator of the Ministry of Dhol and ADF Soundsystem, Sharon Duncan, a talented actress and singer most notably known
from Nitin Shawhneys Eastern Eyes, Michael
Mwenso trombonist of preference for the likes of James Brown, Isaac Hayes,
Abram Wilson, Jamie Cullum to name a few, ADFs Sun-j, Diasporas Luca Gatti
(Gaddafi A Living Myth operas co-arranger) and Susana Lang-Lenton a talented singer-songwriter, also a member of
Afro-Cuban rockers Brecha, to name a few.
Ojos de Brujo have been selling out venues such as the Barbican and the Roundhouse
in
London, regularly touring the
UK while last summer they rocked main stages at festivals such as Lovebox
and Big Chill.
Now, ODB Sessions take their sound to the
capitals clubland, a flamenquillo sound system where you can shake your booty
to hot-from-the-studio remixes from breakbeat to rumba, drum & bass bulerias or bhangra-Balkan-hiphop-Latin
funk, all those ingredients mixed in the hands of turntable alchemist DJ Panko
with the magic of live musicians Max Wright (percussion, beatbox, MC)
and Carlitos Sarduy (trumpet, piano, percussion).
This is a de puta madre
regular residency at Cargo that will see special guests and lots of interaction
on the stage and dance floor! There are simply too many good reasons you cant miss
out on all the fun...
