For one day only The Bussey Building in Peckham will transform into a massive three storey cinema as part of the 2012 Peckham and Nunhead Free Film Festival. Features / Documentaries / New short Films / Music and performance / Directors' Q&As. All completely FREE.
The Cafe Cinema, 12-2pm - Two hours of film clips featuring cafes - from films you'll recognise and some you won't. A fascinating and educational tour through cinema from around the world. Screened at the CLF Cafe (of course!) at the Bussey building. Enjoy with coffee or lunch, or just enjoy.
Roll out the Barrel, 2-4pm - An intoxicating anthology of shorts devoted to that most traditional of national institutions: the public house.
Jamaica at 50, 2-11pm - 9 hrs of film and music celebrating 50 years of Jamaican independence including animation, documentaries, live music and performance. Ending in screenings of Fire in Babylon and the classic reggae film Rockers.
Peckham Film Open, 12noon-10pm - New short films from filmmakers in London SE15 but also Manchester, Devon, Aberdeen, Finland, Germany, United States, Netherlands, Northern Ireland and more!
Drying for Freedom, 4pm - more details - Why are clotheslines banned in many communities, not just in America but right around the world? And how does our addiction to the tumble dryer affect our planet? Inc Q&A with the director.
Hip Hop on Screen, 7pm - "Yes, man!" Documentary introduced by director Kate Scanlon about a hip-hop project working with children in post-genocide Rwanda. Includes Q&A with director. Plus Redder than Red, about the first female breakdancer in the 80s.
London Nightlife, 8-10pm - Classic music videos from 1987-2012, shown on the big screen, with big sound. Celebrating 25 years of London nightlife.
2 Floor Dance/Club night, 10pm-4am - A dance/club night to end Welcome to Busseywood, hosted by DJs Jazzheadchronic, AJ Kwame, Dave Katz, Troy Broadcite, Chris B + More. Runs 10pm-4am.
