Lineup and Details for A Night Of 7 Bridges on Sat 11th August 2012
This event is put together by 7 Bridges a creative project which works to improve and regenerate the Loughborough Junction area of South East London by creating a sense of place, pride and identity.
A live room hosted by 'Music Takes me Up' is headed by 7-piece Gypsy Hill who bring together the balls and brass from the Balkans with Middle Eastern melodies, massive bass-lines and a whole heap of electronics and scratching. Also, Soothsayers mix up roots-reggae jazz, funk, dub and afrobeat whilst cliché-busting The Scribes - a new wave hip hop four piece - are known for innovative, fresh tunes, human beatbox and breathtaking live performances. Talented vocalist Tamara Blessa known for her vocals on soothing Massive-Attack-esque urban rhythms brings an acoustic set to the night whilst Forty Thieves Orkestra come together to play their brand of gritty Balkan Gypsy, Klezmer and belly-dancing music.
By contrast, the 'Beast of the East' room has Jungle, Breaks and Left-field producers Blu Mar Ten exploring their wide range of musical flavours from the deeply abstract to the unashamedly dancefloor. The line-up continues with prodigious new talent and recent Med School signing, Joe Syntax delivering experimental D&B with a discernable dancefloor edge. Junglist Vortex SG takes you on a musical journey of dubstep, broken beats and D&B while Messy MC keeps it lyrical. Singaporean 'lady of the bass' DJ Aresha spins dubstep and jungle to whip up the crowd while Dave Harling mixes breaks, beats and electro to keep the night moving.
All event proceeds go towards the 7 Bridges Regeneration Project managed by Loughborough Junction Action Group.
