Lineup and details
What do you want for you? A totally selfish f***ing wish.
Letting go after a long relationship can be one of the biggest challenges: something that Neil cannot seem to accomplish with his ex-girlfriend Alex.
The play opens with Neil waking up on Alex's couch. He then proves to be difficult, refusing to leave her flat, threatening to claim a stake in the home he abandoned. He wants half of what the flat is worth.
In the course of one week Alex and Neil scratch away all that is left of their shattered relationship. Neil cannot accept that Alex has moved on, and Alex cannot forgive Neil's past infedelity. He tries his best to manipulate her, but Alex's secret is soon unveiled.
Alex's sister Vicky and Neil's friend Ray Splodge inject a little humour into the extreme tension that builds up between the two ex-lovers. This unsettling drama belongs very much in the tenant from hell territory.
Dogs Barking was written by Richard Zajdlic, who wrote for Eastenders and Londons Burning before rising to fame as writer of This Life and Clocking Off. Dogs Barking premiered in 1999 and has been performed internationally. It played at the Toronto Fringe Festival in July and is headed for Pleasance Dome at the Edinburgh Fringe in August.
Directed by Michael Moxham. Produced by Easy Tiger Productions.
