Lineup and details for Freeze and Buzzin'Fly Records Present... Ben Watt on Saturday 12th September 2009
Underground club night Freeze makes a welcome return to Liverpool’s club scene on September 12th as they present A Buzzin’Fly Records Party.
Established in October 2005 Freeze has hosted a plethora of current stars in the house and techno scene – often giving artists and acts their Liverpool or North West Debut. Claude Von Stroke, Paolo Mojo, Spiritcatcher (live), Neil Quigley, Scott Bradford and James Talk are just some of the names to have graced the decks.
After a hiatus, Freeze return with their biggest and most exciting gig to date. Always looking for an angle and something different to their nights, The Buzzin’ Fly Party will be held in the Williamson Tunnels, a National Heritage site which are a labyrinth of brick tunnels (now a museum) located under the streets of Liverpool City Centre. This is the first time a club night has been held in the venue.
Heading up the night, globe trotting star and Buzzin’Fly head honcho, Ben Watt. Ben returns to Liverpool after a couple of years away and is tremendously excited about the venue. Ben needs little introduction, a stalwart on the scene from its inception having founded Everything But The Girl with partner Tracey Thorn in 1982. EBTG made 9 studio albums over a 15 year period, the highpoint commercially being the world wide smash Missing in 1994-95.
As EBTG came to a conclusion, Ben was encouraged to try his hand at the DJing side of things and has been responsible for some seminal London club nights, from the commencement of his Lazy Dog parties which shaped the day/night parties so popular in the capital today to the Buzzin’Fly parties which were the heartbeat of The End prior to its closure earlier this year. Ben now DJ’s all over the world including the summer residency at We Love Space in Ibiza.
The return of Freeze in such a exciting and historic venue and the link up with one of the most forward thinking record labels and talented DJ’s, gives clubbing in Liverpool a much needed shot in the arm and promises to be a night not to be missed.
