Only Child are Alan OHare (ex-The Trestles) and Laura McKinlay (Bill Ryder-Jones), alongside a loose collective of Merseysides most intuitive musicians. Singer/songwriter OHare, from Liverpool, followed his muse up to Denny, Scotland, to find a fiddle player who would bring some Caledonian soul to his most emotional set of songs yet. He found her. Now an EP has been recorded, gigs have been booked and Only Child are ready to grow-up in public. Emotionally.

The band will launch their debut EP, recorded with Jon Lawton at Crosstown in Liverpool, with a big gig at Leaf on Bold Street on September 20th 2012. Alan and Laura have been busy being born, playing the new songs at acoustic support slots with the likes of Miles Hunt (The Wonder Stuff) and Steve Pilgrim (Paul Weller). Now, the full five-piece band (acoustic guitar, fiddle, keyboards, drums and bass) will play a headline set at Leaf - and will be joined on a couple of songs by a string quartet, arranged by Laura McKinlay.

"It's the most exciting thing I've ever been involved with," says O'Hare. "This is the music I've wanted to make my whole life. Laura and I have worked so hard to get these songs and this band to the point where we want everyone to hear them. That time has come."

The band's debut EP will be exclusively available at Leaf on September 20th.

Dave O'Grady is a songwriter from Dublin, with a trademark vocal and a folk,country and blues infleunced sound. He played his first show at 13 and went on to perform alongside such artists as Bon Jovi, Seal, Ringo Starr & Russell Watson as well as touring with his label mate Sandi Thom throughout the U.K., and Black Crowe Rich Robinson on his European tour.
